We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern who is curious, loves to learn, and wants to make an impact on cutting-edge projects. Our program has multiple elements (no pun intended) to ensure that you have a well-rounded internship experience helping the Mechanical Engineering team by taking ownership of a portion of a large scale project, utilize their expertise to address real-world issues, and gain valuable R&D engineering experience while contributing to the development of an exceptional sequencing product. This internship will also provide opportunities to develop soft-skills as well as meet with Leaders across the organization to learn about their careers and gain insights on how to navigate your early career decisions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate quick turn prototypes to demonstrate design feasibility of mechanical and fluidic sub-systems
  • Characterize electromechanical functionality of sub-modules within a larger medical device
  • Design, assemble, troubleshoot, and verify testbed functionality
  • Work with users to document test cases for testbeds
  • Refine the requirements for testbed design
  • Prepare for and conduct design review
  • Quote and source designed parts
  • Execute test cases on sub-assemblies of interest

Education and Experience:

  • Rising Senior level undergraduate or graduate student in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with motion control systems and actuator design
  • Experience with mechanical design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and fabrication techniques required
  • Experience with SolidWorks required
  • Electrical circuit integration and debug desired
  • Basic coding in Python or C# desired
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Machine vision experience desired

Base Compensation Pay Range:
