Mechanical Engineer

TLDR

This hands-on Mechanical Engineer role involves full lifecycle engineering, from concept through production, shaping innovative machines for challenging environments.

RC Mowers | We’re Hiring

Mechanical Engineer

Full-Time · Suamico, WI (On-Site)

THE SHORT VERSION

You design the machines that actually get built—and perform in the real world.

At RC Mowers, we’re not designing theoretical products. We’re building machines that operate on steep slopes, in rough terrain, under real customer conditions.

Your work doesn’t sit in CAD—it becomes something customers rely on. And when it performs, it changes how the job gets done.

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who takes ownership from concept through production—and plays a direct role in shaping products that are redefining commercial landscaping.

WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY IS

This is hands-on, full-lifecycle engineering. You won’t be boxed into one piece of the process—you’ll be involved from early concepts all the way through production and continuous improvement.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Designing across sheet metal, weldments, structures, and powertrain systems
  • Bringing ideas from concept → prototype → production → real-world application
  • Working directly with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and scalable
  • Continuously improving products based on testing, feedback, and performance
  • Balancing performance, cost, durability, and manufacturability in every decision

You’re not just designing parts—you’re shaping products that are actively changing the industry.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and new product features
  • Create SolidWorks models and drawings that translate cleanly to production
  • Improve existing designs for performance, durability, and cost efficiency
  • Apply engineering expertise across powertrain, structural systems, vibration, and mechanical linkages
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation—and refine designs based on results
  • Lead or contribute to design reviews with clear, practical input
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to bring designs to life
  • Drive continuous product improvement through structured problem-solving and iteration
  • Maintain clear, usable technical documentation

YOU’RE THE RIGHT FIT IF

  • You take pride in seeing your work go beyond design and into real-world use
  • You think beyond individual components and understand how everything works together as a system
  • You naturally balance innovation with practicality—designing things that can actually be built and used
  • You’re energized by ownership, not just participation
  • You can manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail
  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams
  • You bring a high level of accountability to your work and follow through to completion
  • You’re motivated by building something meaningful—not just completing tasks

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on product design experience
  • Strong SolidWorks skills (PDM experience is a plus)
  • Experience with:
    • Sheet metal and weldments
    • Structural design and vibration
    • Mechanical linkages and assemblies
    • Powertrain systems
  • Ability to take a design from concept through production
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Clear communication—especially when working cross-functionally

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with outdoor power equipment, robotics, construction equipment, or similar
  • Familiarity with FEA, vibration analysis, or CFD
  • Project management skills with a strong understanding of how projects move from concept through production
  • A holistic understanding of product delivery—ensuring designs are practical, manufacturable, and meet customer expectations

WHY THIS JOB

Most engineering roles separate design from reality. This one doesn’t.

  • You’ll see your work built, tested, and used in the field
  • You’ll have direct influence on products that are scaling quickly
  • You’ll work across the full lifecycle—not just one piece of it
  • You’ll help shape products that are transforming the commercial landscaping industry

And just as important:

  • You’ll work alongside a team of high performers, people who take ownership, move fast, and care deeply about the outcome
  • You won’t be buried in layers of long approval chains—your impact will be visible

We’re not just improving products—we’re redefining how this work gets done.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation and title commensurate with experience. Benefits include:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Disability, life, and accident insurance
