The Mechanical Engineering II will perform mid to high level complexity design, conduct technical analysis, and support the full project lifecycle under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. The Mechanical Engineering II is capable of handling moderately complex tasks and lead small projects independently. Typical design work includes HVAC or Plumbing and Fire Protection design and associated calculations, plumbing systems design, hydronic systems design and flow /pressure calculations, sizing and specifying of mechanical equipment such as boilers, lift stations, pump stations, pumps and chillers, plumbing systems design and selection, fire protection system design, underground utilities coordination and specification production. What you will do:
  • Design to client and regulatory requirements 
  • Manage mid to large size projects including coordination with the client and other consultants, document production, attendance at design meetings, correspondence with clients and partners and construction management (shop drawings, site observation and punch lists)
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (like REVIT or AutoCAD) to produce precise 3D models and generate 2D manufacturing drawings that adhere to industry standards
  • Conduct necessary calculations to verify the functionality, safety, and performance of designs (e.g., TRANE TRACE, REVIT, DUCTSIZE, H SYM, thermal load analysis)
  • Manage projects tasks to schedule and budget
  • Keep Milhouse Engineering management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner
  • Manage subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule, and budget requirements
  • Shop drawing review and disposition
  • Preparing project documents and reports
  • Maintaining project files
  • Abiding by the project quality plan
  • Data and document entry into various platforms
  • Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management
  • Assist management as directed
  • System calculations (building loads, pump calculation, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Your background:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • 3 –5 years of relevant professional engineering design experience
  • Active memberships in discipline specific professional organization such as ASHRAE or ASPE
  • Qualified to take the PE Exam
  • Certifications in LEED, Value Engineering, Energy Management, or similar certifications preferred
  • EIT working towards PE license
  • CAD, AutoCAD, REVIT experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • AutoCAD and REVIT proficiency
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Knowledge of standard format specification development
  • Knowledge of assorted vendor equipment selection programs and other software applicable to the design process
