Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

  • Design and develop thermoformed plastic trays and containers using CPET, APET, and PP materials.

  • Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Ensure structural integrity, weight optimization, and material cost efficiency.

Thermoforming Engineering

  • Develop designs compatible with industrial thermoforming processes.

  • Optimize tooling designs in collaboration with external or internal toolmakers.

  • Analyze thickness distribution, forming behavior, and product performance.

Product Validation & Testing

  • Conduct product mechanical tests (load, temperature, sealing, durability).

  • Validate designs for freezing, refrigeration, and shelf-stable environments.

  • Troubleshoot product and tooling issues and define corrective measures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, quality, and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability.

  • Support production during ramp-up, testing phases, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in customer projects to translate requirements into design solutions.

Project Management

  • Manage design tasks, timelines, and deliverables for assigned products.

  • Maintain documentation, version control, and BOM accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

  • Hands-on experience with thermoforming for food containers (mandatory).

  • Knowledge of plastics (CPET, APET, PP) and properties relevant to thermoforming.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX or similar).

  • Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and mechanical engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience with tooling design or collaboration with toolmakers.

  • Familiarity with packaging requirements for chilled, frozen, and shelf-stable food applications.
