POSITION:

Marketing Associate

ORGANIZATION:

Orion Group

LOCATION:

New York City

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Orion Group is a private equity-backed acquirer and operator of leading field services businesses, focused on building national platforms in high-demand, capacity-constrained markets. Founded in 2020 and backed by Alpine Investors—a private equity firm with $18 billion AUM—Orion has scaled to over $1.5 billion in sales through a combination of organic growth and more than 50 acquisitions. With a people-first culture, Orion is committed to investing in exceptional businesses and attracting A+ talent.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Marketing Associate is responsible for building a brand that business owners actively choose when considering a long-term partnership. This role sits at the center of brand, content, and demand generation across Orion and its platform companies, helping ensure that qualified business owners know who we are, understand what we stand for, and associate our brands with trust, partnership, and permanence. You will shape messaging, develop content, support new growth channels, and help position our brands as first-call partners in our industries.

This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role for someone who combines strong storytelling instincts with operational rigor. You’ll work across content, web, events, and analytics—launching new initiatives, supporting live and digital experiences, improving conversion, and turning data into insight. Success looks like consistent inbound deal growth, strong engagement with owners and partners, and tight alignment with leadership and the Investing team. The ideal candidate has high standards, sharp judgment, and a bias toward ownership and follow-through.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and evolve messaging that resonates with business owners across multiple industries, supporting Orion’s sourcing and relationship-building efforts
  • Translate Orion’s investment thesis and value proposition into clear, compelling narratives tailored to different audiences and platforms
  • Partner closely with the sourcing team to support outbound and inbound go-to-market efforts, including founder outreach and market positioning
  • Build and enhance Orion’s brand, helping define how we show up to founders, intermediaries, and industry partners
  • Own and refine messaging across channels (e.g., LinkedIn, email, presentations, and other digital touchpoints), using engagement and feedback to iterate
  • Support and coordinate Orion’s presence at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events, including messaging, materials, and follow-up
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen brand visibility and credibility in the market through creative storytelling and thoughtful execution
  • Operate comfortably in an ambiguous environment, taking ownership of initiatives and driving them forward with minimal direction

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, growth, communications, brand, or a related role, ideally in a fast-moving or ambiguous environment. Experience in Investing, Private Equity, or working with founder-owned businesses a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and refine messaging and positioning, with examples of work that shows strategic thinking and strong storytelling
  • Experience working across multiple platforms and formats (e.g., LinkedIn, email, presentations, events, or other digital channels)
  • Interest in investing, private equity, or working with founder-owned businesses
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to quality and detail
  • Willingness to take ownership in a role with limited structure, learning quickly and driving work forward independently

OUR VALUES:

Orion is a company with a strong culture. We encourage you to learn more about it and make sure it is the right environment for you. Below are our values:

· Growth: growth fuels us and creates opportunities for our people.

· Empowerment: our people move fast, make decisions, and act as owners.

REPORTING STRUCTURE & TRAVEL:

The position will provide significant exposure to the leadership of Orion’s businesses, the Orion management team, and Orion’s sponsor, Alpine.

Given Orion’s operations across the U.S. and Canada, the role will likely involve occasional travel (approximately 5-10%).

COMPENSATION:

We believe in rewarding our talent with a competitive compensation package and benefits that reflect our commitment to our people. The total compensation (“all-in” comp, including salary and on-target bonus) will range from $120,000-$140,000 depending on experience.
