Position Description:

Work within the Port Dover Harbour Marina to assist with daily marina operations, including:

  • This position is responsible for duties related, but not limited to, horticultural operations within Port Dover Harbour Marina (i.e. grass cutting, weed eating, general landscaping).
  • This position is responsible for duties related, but not limited to facilities maintenance within Port Dover Harbour Marina (i.e. buildings, pavilions/gazebos, docks and parking lot).
  • This position is responsible for duties related, but not limited to cleaning facilities and minor maintenance (i.e. washrooms, showers, office area, fueling and pumping stations, marina grounds, parking areas).
  • Responsible for daily, monthly and seasonal inspections and record keeping.
  • Maintain daily written records of work related activities, including daily circle checks on all equipment and report defects to the immediate supervisor or designate.
  • Be knowledgeable of all Port Dover Harbour Marina rates and services available on site.
  • Collect and monitor ramp fees from boaters using daily ramps.
  • Comply with all TSSA (technical standards and safety) regulations regarding the safe operation of a fuel station.
  • Ensure accurate collection and processing of all revenue collected from fuel docks, ramp and ice sales.
  • Assist all boats in docking and casting off.
  • Maintain good relations with all marina patrons and the public, including fielding general inquiries.
  • Participate in the set up and take down of required equipment and items needed for special events (i.e. picnic tables, tables, chairs, etc.).
  • Report and assist with recording incidents of injury, vandalism, etc.
  • Close fuel dock daily, ensuring daily above ground fuel tank dips and pump readings are completed.
  • Responsible for fuel dock services (adhere to Port Dover Harbour Marina pump out and fueling procedures when servicing boaters); pump out boater waste tanks.
  • Respond to patrons/customer needs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Work outdoors cleaning and scrubbing docks over long periods of time.
  • Assist seasonal/transient boaters to tie up and cast off from mooring well.
  • Ensure that the Safety and Port Dover Harbour Marina Rules and Regulations and are adhered to.
  • Frequent garbage, litter and recyclables pickup.
  • Take dock-walks, under the direction of the assigned supervisor to ensure lighting is working properly, boats are tied properly and safe, and there are no obstacles on the docks and safety equipment is working and in place.
  • Safe and efficient operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles (i.e. grass cutting machines, tractors, utility vehicle, weed eaters).
  • Aquatic weed, fish and bird pick up (including removal of debris from marina waterways).
  • Laboring duties include climbing, lifting, pulling, balancing, kneeling, stooping, walking, handling materials to assist in the maintenance of Norfolk County facilities and infrastructure.
  • You will be required to work in an outdoor environment in all elements (i.e. hot and cold weather).

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in Highschool, University or College.
  • Previous experience in janitorial, horticulture, landscaping, carpentry, boating an asset.
  • Boaters Operating Card License preferred.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C preferred.
  • Able to lift 35 Ibs.

Note:

Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays.

Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.

At time of application must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.

Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
