The Naval Nuclear Laboratory develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for thesafety and reliability of our Navy’s submarine and aircraft fleet. Our company is looking for anexperienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Manufacturability team as part of the PropulsionPlant Team Trainer (PPTT) project, which is a multi-site organization engaged in the design,production, testing, and delivery of advanced training simulators. The successful candidate will: -Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers across multiple locations - Review and dispositionSupplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements -Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied - Understand ASME Y14.5Geometric Tolerancing principles

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Experience with Model BasedDesign - Experience with Design for Manufacturability
  • Experience implementing GeometricDimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs
  • Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
  • Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
  • Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer
