AI overview

Focus on manual testing of complex healthcare software, ensuring quality of React interfaces and Python APIs, while benefiting from mentorship and significant growth opportunities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Manual QA Engineer to join our team.

This entry-level role is focused on the meticulous manual execution of test plans and verification of our platform's functionality, ensuring the continuous quality of our React user interfaces, Python backend APIs, and specialized healthcare data integrations (FHIR/Medplum). The ideal candidate is a fast learner with exceptional attention to detail, a strong grasp of testing methodologies, and a passion for ensuring software quality in a regulated environment. This position offers significant opportunities for mentorship and professional growth in clinical quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

Manual Testing and Execution

  • Execute detailed, comprehensive manual test cases for new features, bug fixes, and regression testing across the platform (web and API endpoints).

  • Follow specific test protocols to verify end-to-end user flows in the React frontend and data integrity in the backend.

  • Meticulously document and communicate defects (bugs), ensuring all steps for reproduction are clearly outlined and tracked in the bug management system.

  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify issues outside of defined test plans and provide constructive feedback to the development team.

Quality and Compliance

  • Work closely with product teams and senior QA engineers to review user stories and requirements, ensuring they are clear, unambiguous, and testable.

  • Learn and apply fundamental QA principles, including risk-based testing, regression testing, and verification/validation concepts.

  • Adhere to quality standards and documentation requirements related to handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and compliance (HIPAA).

  • Assist in maintaining and organizing the central repository of manual test cases.

Collaboration and Learning

  • Participate actively in sprint planning, defect triage, and review meetings.

  • Proactively seek mentorship from Senior QA Leads and Engineers to deepen technical knowledge in testing methodologies and specialized healthcare standards (FHIR).

  • Collaborate directly with developers to verify and sign off on bug fixes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience in quality assurance or a related technical role, or a recent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for finding edge cases and defects.

  • Foundational understanding of testing methodologies (e.g., black-box testing) and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Familiarity with at least one version control system (e.g., Git) and bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to clearly articulate technical issues verbally and in writing.

Preferred Skills & Domain Knowledge

  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) to manually verify backend responses.

  • Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React) from a testing perspective.

  • Academic or personal project exposure to healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR) or regulated environments.

  • Basic understanding of SQL for data verification.
