Mission: The Managing Director of Systems, Reporting & Analytics provides enterprise leadership over financial systems, reporting architecture, data quality governance, reconciliation efficiency, and analytics enablement. This role develops and executes a multi-year strategy to advance data transparency, automated reporting, system integration, and analytical insight while maintaining continuous audit readiness. The position influences cross-functional data flows, embeds preventative controls, and enables scalable reporting solutions across the organization.

Location: This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations: Up to 10% during the busiest times of the year

 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

 

Enterprise Reporting & Analytics Strategy

  • Establish the analytics maturity roadmap, reporting automation strategy, and data governance standards.
  • Define reporting hierarchies, semantic models, and dashboards scalable across business units.
  • Lead advanced analytics initiatives including predictive modeling and exception-based reporting.
  • Promote self-service analytics culture to reduce manual reporting dependency.

 

ERP Systems Governance & Optimization

  • Serve as business owner for financial ERP systems and ancillary platforms.
  • Oversee module configuration, security controls, integrations, and upgrading cycles.
  • Align workflow automation with audit, regulatory, and operational compliance.
  • Implement preventative posting logic to reduce reconciliation defects.

 

Data Quality, Validation & Controls

  • Establish automated controls, validation rules, and lineage tracking.
  • Deploy continuous cross-system data validations across ERP, sub-ledgers, procurement, and payroll systems.
  • Implement remediation for recurring anomalies and coding variances.
  • Govern metadata, naming conventions, taxonomies, and business dictionaries.
  • Reduce manual reconciliation through automated matching logic and validation checkpoints.

 

Reporting Architecture & Dashboard Governance

  • Oversee reporting datasets, drill-through dashboards, and publishing framework.
  • Reduce spreadsheet dependency with automated model refresh cycles.
  • Define version control, certification workflows, and publishing standards.
  • Surface risk through exception-based dashboarding.

 

Automation, AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Evaluate and deploy AI-assisted insight and anomaly detection tools.
  • Automate compliance validations are tied to accounting and grant requirements.
  • Replace repetitive manual processes with automated workflows.

 

Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM)

  • Deploy monitoring tied to fund, function, org, and grant compliance.
  • Configure alert thresholds aligned to policy, materiality, and risk.
  • Measure remediation velocity through CCM dashboards.
  • Partner with auditors to validate preventative control coverage.

  • Maintain year-round audit-ready datasets and evidence repositories.
  • Standardize documentation discipline with metadata and version control.
  • Implement corrective action plans tied to audit findings.
  • Support walkthroughs and cross-functional control documentation

 

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor analytics and reporting talent.
  • Establish professional pathways, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, continuous improvement, and scalability.

  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, semantic modeling, and automation concepts.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Charter school experience preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel to campuses or HQ offices as needed

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $131,000 and $158,500, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
