ROLE SUMMARY

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Reports to: Board of Directors / Renew Capital Operating Partner
Languages: Fluency in English and Amharic (Preferred)


We are seeking a high-performing executive to lead one of Renew Capital’s growing tech-enabled portfolio companies based in East Africa. This business is redefining last-mile delivery, logistics and digital commerce. With a proven product the company is ready for its next phase of expansion.


The ideal candidate is a strategic operator who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the intersection of technology and logistics, and can lead teams to execute bold growth plans. Fluency in Amharic is ideal for engaging staff, customers and government stakeholders on the ground in Ethiopia.



Responsibilities

1. Growth Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the company’s next stage of growth, expanding customer segments, delivery capacity and platform reach.
  • Translate board-level strategic goals into measurable execution plans across sales, ops and product.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue streams, product opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Drive margin improvements and sustainable unit economics at scale.

2. Team & Culture Leadership

  • Build, lead and inspire a cross-functional team across operations, logistics, tech and customer service.
  • Develop internal systems, SOPs and talent development frameworks to support scaling.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency and mission-driven hustle.
  • Recruit and onboard key hires to strengthen the management team.

3. Product, Tech & Logistics Oversight

  • Work with tech leads to continuously improve platform usability, reliability and integration with logistics systems.
  • Oversee operational design — including dispatch optimization, fleet efficiency and customer experience.
  • Use data to inform real-time decision-making and long-term innovation.

4. Sales, Partnerships & Commercial Success

  • Lead enterprise and SMB sales growth, pricing strategy and client retention efforts.
  • Represent the company in high-level partnership and regulatory discussions.
  • Drive customer loyalty by aligning sales, product and fulfillment functions.
  • Serve as a public face of the company in Ethiopia.

5. Board Collaboration & Investor Alignment

  • Report to the board and investors on performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver clear financials, KPIs and strategic updates on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Support future fundraising or financing rounds with data, narrative and pitch readiness.

  • Revenue growth accelerates year over year, with strong unit economics.
  • The team is aligned, growing and executing consistently across functions.
  • Platform usage increases in both consumer and enterprise segments.
  • The company becomes the leading logistics-tech brand in Ethiopia and expands regionally.


You Might Be a Fit If You...

  • Have 8–12+ years in operations, logistics, marketplace platforms or fast-scaling tech ventures.
  • Have held senior leadership roles (CEO, COO, Commercial Director, GM) with full P&L responsibility.
  • Can lead in both English and ideally Amharic across boardrooms and delivery hubs.
  • Are equally comfortable making high-level strategic decisions and rolling up your sleeves.
  • Have a track record of scaling teams, driving revenue and building systems from scratch.
  • Believe in Africa’s potential and want to help build companies that matter.
