Avantia Law isn’t a traditional law firm — and we’re not looking for a traditional law firm  partner. We’re building the market’s most agile, tech-enabled private funds platform, and we want a Managing Director to lead and own our Funds practice.

The Mission 

You’ll build and lead a specialist practice that covers the full spectrum of LP transfers, secondaries, and special projects for a rapidly growing roster of global asset managers. 

This is high-impact, hands-on work — but with the autonomy, creativity and strategic freedom that major firms can’t offer. 

What You’ll Lead 

LP Transfers, End-to-End 

You are the “go-to” expert for everything related to investor transfers: 

  • Transfer mechanics, GP consents and LPA interpretation 
  • Multi-party negotiations and administrator coordination 
  • High-volume workflows + high-touch bespoke matters 
  • Complex structures (master-feeder funds, parallel vehicles, SPVs, SMAs) 

You’ll architect the most efficient, client-friendly LP transfer offering in the market. 

Special Projects  

In this role you will design and execute project and advisory solutions for leading global funds.

Core responsibilities include:

  • reviewing subscription documents
  • updating and maintaining fund documentation.
  • managing operational projects that improve efficiency compliance and investor experience. 

Infrastructure of a Best-in-Class Practice 

You’ll build scalable systems, templates, playbooks and tech-enabled processes. 
Think automation, intuitive workflows, investor-friendly communications — the opposite of a traditional, document-heavy practice.

  • Build deep relationships with GPs, LPs, administrators and secondaries advisers 
  • Capture recurring investor-transfer workflows 
  • Represent Avantia across the funds ecosystem 
  • Lead thought leadership on secondaries trends, transfer mechanics and emerging structure.

Requirements

Who You Are  

You’re not just a funds lawyer — you’re a builder, a strategic thinker, and someone who gets energy from solving complex fund mechanics. 

You bring: 

  • 12+ years of experience in private funds, secondaries or asset management 
  • Deep, practical fluency in LPAs, MFN, transfer restrictions and investor rights 
  • Cross-border comfort (UK/EU/US structures) 
  • Strong understanding of KYC/AML, regulatory approvals and onboarding flows 
  • Either an established book of clients or the credibility and network to build one 
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset — no bureaucracy, lots of freedom
