Our rapidly growing New York Business Transformation practice partners with high-growth and pre-IPO companies to deliver practical, scalable solutions. As a Managing Director, you’ll combine your finance transformation expertise, client service leadership, and business development acumen to lead engagements, grow relationships, and shape the future of our practice. Client Delivery:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs and finance leaders at fast-growing and pre-IPO organizations.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including:
  •   Process redesign and operational improvements across accounting and finance functions.
  •   System strategy, selection, and integration for ERP and related tools.
  •   Financial close optimization, reporting enhancements, and automation.
  • Advise on best practices for core finance processes: order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, FP&A, and internal controls.
  • Support clients through complex transactions (integrations, carve-outs, IPO readiness).
  • Deliver scalable solutions that enable growth and investor readiness.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing firm-approved, AI-enabled solutions for clients, in accordance with company policies on data protection, intellectual property, and professional standards.
  • Stay informed about emerging AI tools and techniques and collaborate with firm leadership to identify compliant opportunities to enhance client solutions and internal processes.
  • Business Development:
  • Drive new client acquisition and expand relationships with high-growth and pre-IPO companies.
  • Act as a market-facing leader, leveraging industry expertise to generate opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop go-to-market strategies and sector-specific offerings.
  • Represent the firm through thought leadership, panels, and networking.
  • Leadership:
  • Account Management: Maintain strong client relationships and ensure engagement success.
  • Team Development: Coach and mentor junior team members; foster a collaborative culture.
  • Recruiting & Retention: Attract and retain top talent for a growing practice.
  • What You'll Bring:
  • 15+ years in finance transformation and operational improvement, with experience in high-growth and pre-IPO environments.
  • Proven hands-on finance transformation and strong ability to deliver client excellence while driving growth and market leadership and expertise in pre-IPO readiness environments. 
  • Prior experience as a Controller or equivalent in commercial/non-financial services firms is a plus.
  • Background in professional services (public accounting or advisory).
  • Expertise in:
  •   Finance Operating Model design, Close Management, Financial Reporting, Integrations, IPO readiness, and Internal Controls.
  •   ERP systems (Workday, Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Intacct) and tools supporting FP&A, close automation, and consolidation.
  • Proven ability to deliver client solutions while driving business development.
  • Comfort with AI: Demonstrated ability to responsibly explore and adopt firm-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Continuous Learning Mindset: Openness to learning and applying emerging technologies including AI and automation in alignment with firm policies and client standards
  • Exceptional executive presence and emotional intelligence, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and design thinking principles.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least one certification: CPA, CISA, CFE, PMP.

    For applicants located in New York, CrossCountry Consulting is required to include an estimate of the compensation range for this role. The following range takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to, skills, experience, education, licenses, certifications, business needs, and internal equity. An estimate of the current range is $230,000 - $470,000 per year + annual bonus + equity.
