Manager, UL Certification and Compliance
TLDR
Own and scale Giga's entire UL certification program across diverse product lines while driving compliance and supporting the company's path to IPO.
Why Join Giga
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What you’ll do
Giga is the only vertically integrated energy infrastructure company controlling site development, manufacturing, and power markets under one roof — and we need someone who can own our entire UL certification program end-to-end. As Manager of UL Certification & Compliance, you'll be the company's single point of ownership for the UL relationship across all product lines: oil-filled transformers, low-voltage switchgear, medium-voltage dry type transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, modular data centers, chillers, and what comes next. You'll build the internal processes and playbooks that let Giga scale its product portfolio without compliance becoming a bottleneck. This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy role that sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and operations — and directly supports our path to IPO.
Where you’ll work
This role will be based remotely from your home offices with occasional travel to our manufacturing facilities in Houston and Long Beach.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the company-wide owner of the UL relationship, acting as the primary liaison between Giga Energy and UL across all product lines and business units
- Maintain existing UL certifications for oil-filled transformers and low-voltage switchgear, ensuring continued compliance, timely renewals, and smooth audit processes
- Lead the end-to-end certification process for new product lines — scoping applicable standards, opening cases, preparing documentation, coordinating testing, managing timelines, and driving projects through to listing
- Develop and maintain internal processes and playbooks for UL certification so the company can scale its product portfolio without bottlenecks
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations to ensure designs meet UL requirements early in the development cycle, not after the fact
- Track and communicate changes to UL standards, policies, and procedures that may affect current or planned certifications
- Manage UL-related budgets, timelines, and reporting to leadership
Requirements
- 7+ years of direct, hands-on experience managing UL certification cases, factory inspections, follow-up services, and the UL listing process
- Deep familiarity with UL standards relevant to electrical infrastructure, including UL 1562, UL 891, and UL 1558
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading new products through the UL certification process from initial application through final listing
- Existing professional relationships with UL representatives and working knowledge of how the organization operates internally
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent certification efforts across different product categories
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field
Bonus points
- Experience with other third-party certification bodies such as CSA, ETL/Intertek, or IEC
- Familiarity with medium-voltage and modular/prefabricated equipment standards
- Background in datacenter infrastructure, HVAC/chiller systems, or modular power equipment
- Experience in manufacturing or quality assurance environments
Who We Hire
We don't use "A-player" loosely. Here's what it actually means at Giga:
Antifragile. You don't just survive chaos, you get better because of it. When things break, change, or move sideways, you don't freeze. You adapt faster than the problem evolves.
High Agency. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see the gap, you fill it. If something is blocking progress, you find a way around it, over it, or through it without asking for permission.
Executors. Ideas are cheap. We hire people who ship. You're the person who turns a whiteboard sketch into something real while everyone else is still scheduling the next meeting about it.
Bias to Action. Perfect is the enemy of done. You'd rather make a decision with 80% of the information and course correct than sit around waiting for 100% that never comes.
Speed. We move fast because the opportunity demands it. You're not reckless, but you understand that in this industry, the team that moves fastest wins. And you like winning.
