Manager, Technical Program Management

AI overview

Lead and develop the Technical Program Management team, driving complex infrastructure portfolios and managing large-scale modernization initiatives that impact millions globally.

This role will be based in Mountain View, CA.

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

We are seeking a Manager, Technical Program Management to join our Online Infrastructure TPM organization. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of Technical Program Managers while partnering closely with senior technical leaders to define, prioritize, and drive complex infrastructure portfolios. You will establish and evolve program management governance, execution frameworks, and operating rhythms that enable successful delivery across large, cross-functional infrastructure teams.

The Online Infrastructure TPM team drives large-scale modernization and migration initiatives across LinkedIn’s advanced infrastructure, including in-house data storage and analytics systems, entity management platforms, query and serving layers, and experimentation platforms. The broader Online Infrastructure organization is responsible for building LinkedIn’s next-generation platforms—spanning application and service delivery, compute, massively scalable storage and replication systems, search, AI/ML platforms, experimentation, and privacy and compliance.

In this role, you will work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry, applying deep systems thinking and technical judgment across distributed systems, APIs, and large-scale platform architectures. LinkedIn has pioneered and continues to maintain industry-leading open-source technologies such as Apache Kafka, Pinot, Samza, Azkaban, Venice, DataHub, and others, while also leveraging industry standards like Kubernetes, gRPC, and GraphQL. You will help shape programs that operate at extreme scale while contributing to technology that impacts millions of people globally.

At this level, the ideal candidate can clearly articulate complex tradeoffs, dependencies, and interactions that influence program outcomes and coach the team to do the same. You bring a strong balance of people leadership, organizational rigor, and technical depth, and you are effective in driving alignment and execution in highly matrixed environments where authority is not assumed. Success in this role requires demonstrated experience leading teams and large programs, influencing across organizational boundaries, and consistently delivering high-impact results.

  • Interact one-to-one with individual technical contributors, senior leaders, as well as coaching teams.
  • Evaluate, champion and drive adoption of Agile methodologies throughout the team, where applicable.
  • Help teams be more efficient, and see the big picture and ensure processes scale appropriately with the company.
  • Create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation, and learning.
  • Manage and maintain project backlogs and ensure forward momentum with project execution.
  • Leads efforts to resolve project conflicts and establish appropriate resolution paths.
  • Manage dependencies between multiple projects.
  • Mentor individuals in best practices for planning and execution.
  • Develop strong partnerships with technology and business leaders.
