 What You’ll Do

The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.

The ideal candidate for this role would share our passion for creating and innovating new technologies, and thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, results-driven environment. We are looking for highly talented, passionate, and versatile engineers that can create the next generation enterprise SSD solutions.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

Job ID:

  • Drive and manage complex engineering projects to a successful conclusion by working closely with internal and external resources.
  • Manage day to day engineering operations including team management, scrum, project planning, engineering escalations and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with various technical architects and functional leads to determine the best solution design/architecture based on customer workflows and requirements.
  • Drive the debug, optimization, and validation SSD firmware on complex embedded multi-core architectures.
  • Support customer qualification and adoption of SSD products.
  • Participate in ground-breaking advanced SSD storage development and research projects.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to summarize program status for all stakeholders including upper management.

What You Bring

  • BS in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience in software or firmware or a MS in 8 years of relevant experience in software or firmware.
  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager or technical product lead managing product development of embedded system devices.
  • Experience as program manager facilitating and coordinating cross-site, cross-discipline technology development.
  • Experience with firmware development processes or firmware in a storage technology
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, as part of a local and globally distributed team, for candidates with working experiences.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMI PMP or similar certification/training is a plus.
  • Familiarity with one of the storage protocols, such as NVMe, or SAS is a plus.
  • Experience in development processes for embedded systems is a plus.

Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. Base Pay Range
$108,000$218,300 USD
