AlertMedia is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering, to lead our Travel Risk Management development team. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about software development, possess strong project management skills, and be capable of fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Strong technical abilities are vital for success, and you must have a passion for innovative software development with a willingness to roll up your sleeves to collaborate with other Engineering teams.  

 Who you are:  

You thrive in a collaborative engineering environment that plays to everyone's strengths with a willingness to work across the entire stack. You have a strong technical background, with hands-on experience in software development and a deep understanding of API integrations and cloud services. You lead by example in adopting and operationalizing AI tools—both within the product and across the development lifecycle. Ideally, you have Python and AWS experience, but more importantly, you care about the quality of your work, the impactful product you help build, and the team you help build it with. You have a deep understanding of the business and cultural environment in Mexico City, and you are excited about growing our presence there.  

What you will do: 

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of the Travel Risk Management product  
• Manage the professional development and technical direction for a team of engineers  
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and customer support, to deliver and support seamless integrations 
• Engage in active coding and technical problem-solving in Python, Django, Next.js, React, Node and other web technologies to ensure high-quality integrations 
• Drive the proactive adoption of AI tools in both the product and the development lifecycle 
• Work in an Agile based environment using tools like Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Slack 
• Use strong verbal and written communication skills in collaboration with other teams across the organization 
• Serve as a point of contact for engineers the Mexico City office, augmenting the support the team receives from remote managers 
• Contribute to AlertMedia’s culture, values and vision for the future  

What you bring to the role:  

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field preferred 
• Experience leading and managing a team of engineers   
• 5+ years of experience building scalable applications with modern frameworks, such as React, Django, and Node, including experience with third-party integrations 
• Experience with Amazon AWS   
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage working on multiple projects in parallel 
• Proficiency leveraging AI tools for product development 
• The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced challenging environment 
• English proficiency both oral and written is required 
• This is a hybrid position (2-3 days a week) in our prime offices in the Reforma area of Mexico City where you’ll get to collaborate with our engineering team
