Build something people love
Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with 3+ million users who trust us with more than $100 billion in assets. And we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for someone who thinks big, sweats the small stuff and keeps things simple. You’ll join a high-bar, fast-paced team where people are trusted to own their work, communicate openly, and ship things that improve our clients’ lives. Collaboration, humility, and an obsession over quality are how we get stuff done.
The Platform Experience team sits as a bridge between Platform and Product engineering. We enable product teams to ship reliable code by partnering directly with developers to solve production challenges and with implementation of systematic improvements. We're central to Wealthsimple's reliability mission: when our products are reliable, customers trust us with their financial future. We focus on protecting critical flows, reducing time to detect and resolve incidents, and ensuring we learn from every issue to prevent recurrence.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development, you'll guide a senior group of Software Developers who partner directly with product teams to ship reliable, error-free experiences. As an Engineering Manager, you'll balance technical leadership with people management—setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating an environment where your team can do their best work. You'll partner with Platform, Product, Design, and Data teams to align on priorities and make informed tradeoffs. You'll also be responsible for team health, professional development, and ensuring we learn from incidents to continuously improve.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to
Guide and support a team of developers through coaching, career development, and regular feedback conversations
Partner with product teams to identify reliability challenges and create targeted solutions that improve the client experience
Build strong relationships with team members across engineering to understand their needs and advocate for tooling improvements
Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape project proposals and bring them to relevant planning discussions
Lead migrations, unblock dependencies, and keep momentum
Promote best practices for production engineering and help establish patterns that scale across the organization
Coordinate the team's rotation program, ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding as developers move between Platform and Product
What you’ll bring
Experience in development and managing software engineering teams
Strong technical background with the ability to engage meaningfully in discussions about system reliability, performance, and architecture
Experience partnering with multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives
Excellent communication skills for sharing updates, building alignment, and creating documentation
A collaborative approach that builds trust and empathy between different parts of the organization
Nice to haves
Experience with platform or infrastructure engineering teams
Background in reliability engineering, SRE, or production operations
Familiarity with observability tools and incident management processes
