Manager Production

TLDR

Manage and motivate a diverse team in a complex manufacturing environment to achieve performance goals related to quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Primary function of the position:

Manage, develop and motivate a team with different skill levels to achieve given team performance goals within a sophisticated manufacturing work environment with complex or a variety of production processes. The goals will include quality, efficiency, on-time delivery, First Pass Yield and document accuracy (GDP). Goals are set in each of these areas for each year and overall team performance is measured against them.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Disciplinary and functional management of several people leader
  • Hiring, training, and development of the team, performance management with goal setting and feedback
  • Interface between production management and functional and disciplinary subordinates in production
  • Staff scheduling according to SIOP
  • Is able to read and understand dimensions from technical drawings
  • Initiates all necessary actions to improve efficiency and reduce quality issues
  • Interface with process, design engineering areas
  • Is able to create and give target group specific presentations in German and English
  • Able to discuss technical topics with national and international stakeholders
  • Supports the supervisors on the Tier 1 shop floors in communicating key performance indicators (KPIs), errors and their impacts, as well as company information relevant to employees.
  • Represents the Senior Manager on the Tier 3 shop floor when needed
  • Actively seeks opportunities for improvement as part of the Continuous Improvement (CI) process and develops solutions for optimization
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Monitoring and compliance with all company, environmental, safety, and production regulations. Reacts immediately in case of deviations

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Master's or technician's degree as mechanic/mechatronics engineer/watchmaker, Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
  • Long-term task-related professional experience
  • At least two years of management experience (e.g. as team or project leader, trainer)
  • Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills in English
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office
  • Excellent knowledge of Lean Production. Recognizes problems in the production process, provides suggestions for optimization in cooperation with IE, and plans the implementation
  • Good knowledge of SAP in a production environment
  • Willingness to work in a clean room and wear gloves and ESD clothing
