The Senior Manager of Production Finance plays a critical leadership role in managing the financial operations of production activities, including stage shoots, virtual production, and next-generation technologies at Eyeline Studios. Reporting to the Director of Production Finance, this role demands a sophisticated understanding of both traditional production finance (live action) and the complex financial dynamics of cutting-edge virtual production. The Senior Manager serves as a strategic partner to producers, department leads, and senior leadership, ensuring that all bids, budgets, forecasts, and actuals are optimized and aligned with company objectives—while maintaining financial discipline, accuracy, and agility throughout the production lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Bidding Oversight - Lead the development and refinement of pricing methodologies for studio services.Oversee the design, maintenance, and deployment of proprietary bidding templates.Provide high-level financial oversight on outgoing project bids and internal budgets, ensuring alignment with business goals
Budgeting & Forecasting Leadership - Partner with production and department heads to develop complex, scalable budgets for projects—accounting for hardware, software, labor, travel, and innovative technologies.Deliver accurate and timely budget updates, scenario modeling, and forecast revisions, reflecting changes in production scope and emerging technologies.
Advanced Cost Tracking & Financial Reporting - Oversee comprehensive tracking of project expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary limits while supporting production timelines and creative intent.Implement systems to manage and report on technology-specific costs, improving visibility and accountability.Produce and present strategic financial reports to senior stakeholders, identifying performance trends, budget variances, and mitigation strategies.
Cash Flow Management & Controls - Manage project-level cash flow with a focus on timely processing of invoices and vendor payments.Establish controls and workflows to maintain financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Executive Collaboration & Financial Advisory - Serve as a senior financial advisor to production teams, providing proactive guidance to support creative and technical decision-making.Collaborate with senior producers, technical leads, and operational heads to integrate financial considerations early in the production planning process.Identify financial risks and develop risk mitigation strategies in alignment with organizational priorities.
Compliance, Governance & Auditing - Ensure all financial operations comply with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and client contractual obligations.Support external and internal audit processes as a key finance representative.
Process Optimization & Innovation - Spearhead the evolution of financial workflows tailored to Eyeline’s unique production model, integrating best practices for cost control, reporting, and systems efficiency.Stay informed on technology advancements and lead efforts to adapt financial systems and methodologies accordingly.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management - Build strong cross-departmental relationships to facilitate cohesive financial planning and execution.Act as a liaison between Finance and technical, creative, and production teams, driving alignment between budgetary goals and technological innovation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or certification (CPA, MBA) is a plus.
7–10 years of progressive experience in production finance, including leadership roles in technology-driven or virtual production environments.
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking for complex, multi-faceted production pipelines.
Deep understanding of virtual production tools and technologies (e.g., real-time rendering, LED volumes, volumetric capture).
Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, Workday); experience with Movie Magic Budgeting preferred.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Strong understanding of cash flow management and vendor relations in a project-based setting.
Familiarity with live-action production finance workflows, including payroll systems (Global Vista, PSL+, Greenslate).
Experience with technology procurement, licensing, and software budgeting.
Track record of success in fast-paced, innovation-driven production environments blending art and technology.
Passion for driving operational excellence in emerging production landscapes.
