The Manager, Payroll is a crucial role within our organization, requiring cross-functional work and close collaboration with other members of the Human Capital and HR Operations team, as well as close alignment with Legal and Finance. 

Where You'll Be

To prioritize togetherness, culture, and accountability, RVO Health operates on an in-office work schedule. We expect employees to work from our Fort Mill, SC office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (9am-5pm) each week. You are welcome to work remotely Mondays and Fridays if you wish.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the full payroll lifecycle including data collection, wage calculations, deductions, benefits integration, and final payment processing for all employees across multiple states. 
  •  Ensure payroll processing complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including timely tax filings and reporting requirements. 
  • Review, audit, and reconcile payroll reports and records to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors promptly. 
  •  Lead and manage payroll vendor relationships, including negotiating service level agreements, monitoring performance, and ensuring deliverables meet organizational standards. 
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits deductions. 
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management with professionalism, confidentiality, and clarity. 
  • Develop and document payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. 
  • Stay current on payroll laws, regulations, and industry best practices; recommend and implement process improvements and system enhancements as needed. 
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades to existing platforms to support scalability and automation. 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and compensation, providing required documentation and explanations. 
  • Ensure payroll data confidentiality and security in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in payroll with 2 years focused on management in a similar role.
    • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements. 
    • Proficiency with payroll software and systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Workday, or similar platforms. 
    • Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities. 
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
    • High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive and confidential employee information. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments and with external vendors. 
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, including coaching and development of payroll staff. 
    • Familiarity with benefits administration and integration with payroll systems is a plus. 
    • Experience with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and audits. 
    • Knowledge of FLSA/DOL regulations and their impact on payroll processing.

    Preferred:

    • Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is highly desirable. 
    • Experience working in a health and wellness or digital health environment. 
    • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data analytics tools to support payroll reporting and insights.

  • Starting Salary:$100,000 - $120,000
