Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Payroll Compliance & Controls, located at Toronto General Hospital, the role of Manager, Payroll Operations is responsible for managing daily operations of the Payroll department and payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, and maintaining compliance with statutory and labour regulations. This role provides direct management of two Supervisors and a team of Employee Records & Payroll Administrators. You will ensure the integrity of payroll processes, achieved by establishing and maintaining an effective schedule of payroll runs that meets legal, contractual, and administrative guidelines. As a key resource on payroll issues, the incumbent and the Payroll team will initiate all activity relating to administrative, legislative, and system procedures. The Payroll Operations Manager will provide direct supervision, (organizes, supervises, and evaluates the workload) for assigned staff and is responsible for the editing, correction, and verification processes of all payroll runs.
In addition to providing leadership and guidance to Payroll and Employee Records staff regarding technical and procedural issues, the Payroll Operations Manager also identifies and resolves disputes, concerns and/or problems within the team in a manner that is fair and consistent with Hospital and Departmental policies.
