Responsibilities

 

Design Leadership & Project Delivery

● Translate the Design Director’s creative vision into clear, actionable design strategies

and guide teams from concept through execution

● Oversee all phases of design projects, including concept development, space planning,

material selection, documentation, procurement support, and installation

● Ensure design solutions meet functional, aesthetic, regulatory, and brand requirements

● Review and approve design packages, specifications, drawings, and presentations

● Maintain design intent throughout procurement, construction, and project opening

● Stay current with industry trends, materials, technologies, and best practices

 

Team Leadership & People Management

● Lead, mentor, and manage a team of interior designers and junior staff

● Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development

planning

● Empower team members to proactively identify, flag, and resolve design and project

issues

● Build a strong design culture (“Build the Guild”) that encourages collaboration,

accountability, and excellence

 

Client & Stakeholder Collaboration

● Collaborate with clients to understand needs, goals, budgets, and timelines

● Partner closely with architects, project managers, contractors, vendors, consultants, and

internal teams

● Ensure design solutions are clearly communicated to the broader design and

construction teams for accurate execution

● Support business development efforts, including proposals, pitches, and client presentations

 

Project & Operational Management

● Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple projects

● Ensure quality control and consistency across all design deliverables

● Participate in site visits to support technical execution and resolve on-site challenges

● Balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high design

Standards

 

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field

● 8–10+ years of professional interior design experience, including leadership or people

management experience

● Strong portfolio demonstrating concept-driven, high-quality, and technically sound work

● Proficiency in industry-standard design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe

Creative Suite, etc.)

● Solid understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards

● Proven track record of delivering outstanding design on high-profile projects

● Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

● Strong oral, written, and graphic communication skills

● Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, external consultants, clients,

and partners
