Manager eCommerce Technology

AI overview

Lead the technical evolution of the Adobe Commerce ecosystem while managing a team of developers and ensuring system scalability and integration.

REEDS Jewelers is excited to post this important position to join our IT team.

We are seeking a highly skilled Magento Full Stack Architect to lead the developers through the technical evolution of our Adobe Commerce ecosystem. This is not just a senior development role; it is a strategic management position responsible for the structural integrity, scalability, and seamless integration of our digital commerce platform.

A Manager eCommerce Technology spends a significant portion of their time "coding with a pen" and visualizing complex logic before a single line of PHP is written. In a large-scale e-commerce environment, documentation is what prevents a system from becoming unmanageable.

You will be a transformational leader managing and coordinating the activities of four full-time engineers and several consultants and related partners. You will be the bridge between business requirements and technical execution, spending equal time designing complex system architectures and overseeing high-level implementation. You will be involved in the day-to-day operations and daily support of the REEDS.com enterprise-wide ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Architecture & Design

  • Application Integration Diagrams: Design and maintain high-level architecture diagrams showing the relationship between Magento and external systems (ERP, CRM, PIM, and WMS).
  • Data Flow Mapping: Create detailed Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) to visualize how customer, order, and inventory data move through the system, ensuring data integrity and security (PCI compliance).
  • State Machine Logic: Develop State Diagrams to define complex lifecycles, such as custom order statuses, RMA processes, and multi-source inventory (MSI) reservations.

2. Full Stack Engineering

  • Backend Mastery: Architect "upgrade-proof" PHP modules using Magento service contracts, dependency injection, and optimized SQL schemas.
  • Frontend Strategy: Define the frontend architecture, whether optimizing the traditional Luma/Less stack or leading a transition to Headless/PWA (React/Vue).
  • Performance Optimization: Implement advanced caching strategies (Varnish, Redis) and profile code to ensure sub-2-second page loads.

3. Documentation & Governance

  • Technical Documentation: Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to document the "why" behind critical technical choices.
  • Issue Resolution: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical system issues and maintain a Technical Debt log to prioritize future refactoring.
  • Workflow Visualization: Document developer and admin workflows, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing protocols.

4. Leadership & Quality Assurance

  • Code Review: Enforce strict coding standards and perform deep-dive code reviews to prevent "core hacks" and technical sprawl.
  • Mentorship: Guide senior and mid-level developers, providing clarity on architectural patterns and the "Magento Way."
  • Security: Oversee the implementation of security patches and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to mitigate risks.

With our strong foundation, we continue to grow and welcome talented, hard-working team members to join our dynamic company. We look forward to reviewing your application!
