Purpose

Divergent aims to revolutionize industrial manufacturing in multiple sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and defense through our DAPS (Divergent Adaptive Production System) technology. Divergent is seeking an experienced and motivated analysis engineer to support the next generation of industry-leading vehicle development. We’re committed to transforming vehicles’ structural systems away from traditional manufacturing by using new materials and new technologies.  To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer who will help shape the future of industrial manufacturing.

A Manager, CAE Engineering will build and mentor a team of engineers to build cutting edge vehicles and product using DAPS technology. This position requires hands on mentorship and team building to foster accountability and ownership for CAE team. Capability to give deep technical guidance for the growing team on Structural analysis and CAE is critical. Collaborating successfully in a company-wide cross-team environment is also essential to ensure cross-functional requirements are met while achieving customer satisfaction.

The Role

  • Set team priorities, track projects, and mentor engineers to achieve critical company milestones.
  • Develop and institutionalize a culture of accountability, extreme ownership, collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence. 
  • Perform cross-functional technical review to ensure product capabilities meet requirements.
  • Identify and communicate capability gaps, risks, and dependencies between application and platform teams, and coordinate mitigation plans.
  • Growing the capabilities of the team, through training, mentorship, documentation and hiring 
  • Appropriate resource allocation, measuring capacity of the team against capacity 
  • Accountable for generating and measuring functional departmental goals, KPIs and responsibilities. 
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment within the DAPS Product Engineering team and also cross-functionally with other disciplines to achieve company goals.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • BS or MS in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of technical experience in aerospace / automotive structural analysis.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead team of Structural/CAE engineers working cross functionally to deliver successful products. 
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept through production, focusing on high-performance materials and high-reliability applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex, inputs to simple terms and find alignment across multifunctional stake holders.
  • In-depth industrial experiences in the Structural Analysis and CAE including one of the followings: Damage Tolerance Analysis / Explicit Full vehicle crash Analysis / Cohesive Zone Adhesive Analysis / Flutter Analysis / Random-Vibration test-correlation / Nonlinear Thermal Structural Analysis.
  • Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods of time may be spent in conference room and indoor/outdoor for physical test observation for correlation work.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead team of mechanical engineers working cross functionally to deliver successful products
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept through production, focusing on high-performance materials and high-reliability applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex, inputs to simple terms and find alignment across multifunctional stake holders.
  • Supported or engaged directly with DoD airworthiness stakeholders such as Air Force Test Center (AFTC) or FAA.
  • Experience supporting structural design and analysis throughout the design, build, and test phases of a development cycle.
  • Strong systems-thinking mindset—comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving structured clarity across technology and program boundaries.

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels M06 - M07 as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • M06: $157,190 - $216,150
  • M07: $182,380 - $250,745
