Summary

The Manager, Business Development will be responsible for identifying new areas for profitable business growth including new products, services, and solutions, develop business strategies tailored to meeting market needs, proactively initiate new partnerships, for product/service expansion. The Manager will work with Carolina Cat Power leadership team, gather internal & external information, find attractive growth & profitable opportunities (organic, partnership, & through M&A) and translate into executable and trackable plans. Evaluate opportunities, make compelling arguments for action, and facilitate actualizing plans into business results. Serves as the owner of business development initiatives within the division and a thought-partner for the management team.

Essential Functions

  • Market & Data Analyses: Develops, analyzes, and expands on our market know-how & SWOT analyses including technologies, competitive dynamics, and economics specifically in the relevant energy, renewables, & electrical spaces; translates into synopsis & actionable summaries for disseminating to leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Business Development: Proactively develops key-customer relationships while working with the sales team and creates a pipeline of potential products/offerings, partners, collaborators, & acquisition prospects that help to fulfil the business strategic vision and growth plans. Prepares & presents business cases and fosters discussions while championing alignment from stakeholders. Drives business-development initiatives from initiation to successful outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Relationship and Scope

Reports directly to the Director, Sales – Carolina Cat Power Systems. Person in this role will need to be a great collaborator and teammate to work with a highly talented and successful Power Systems leadership team across Sales and Operations functions.

Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year degree and MBA or equivalent.
  • Five plus years in the electrical power industry and/or energy sector with Business Development, Strategy, &/or Sales/Marketing roles.
  • Domain knowhow in Energy/Electrical power, renewables, battery-energy-storage, distributed energy resources, and related spaces will be a plus.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated passion for the evolution of business & technology in the Energy & Power space.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, business acumen and a strong analytical mind.
  • Confident but humble; willing to “roll up sleeves” to help get the job done.
