NOTE: This position will be based full-time in our Houston, TX office currently located in Galleria area, and moving to City Center area in May 2026.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, Assistant Controller reports to the Senior Director, Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, management of all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations and related personnel, management of the month-end close process, and owning and performing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations; including general ledger entries, accounts payable, fixed assets, cash accounting, and travel & expense reimbursement.
- Lead the monthly close process and ensure that close deadlines are met timely and accurately.
- Own, maintain, and successfully perform key Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls in areas such as Financial Close Management, Fixed Assets, Lease, Procure to Pay, and Payroll.
- Manage and mentor general ledger and accounts payable team members. Coach and develop these personnel by providing clear objectives, timely performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Prepare the monthly variance analysis for the consolidated balance sheet and statement of operations, ensuring that the analysis provides accurate and meaningful information on company performance.
- Supervise the preparation and execution of the quarterly balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations performed by general ledger personnel
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams, including Treasury, FP&A, Supply Chain and Product and Project Delivery.
- Dedication to continuously improving processes and documentation, and leading process improvement initiatives.
- Act as a primary liaison for internal and external audit requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of eight years of full-time accounting experience, with at least three years of supervisory/managerial experience, is required. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently, to accomplish objectives. Additional required or preferred skills are as follows:
- Significant knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
- Demonstrated proficiency of accounting and/or auditing for a publicly traded company
- Proficiency identifying and driving process improvements
- Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM is not required but is a plus
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:
The target pay range for this position is $124,400 - $150,138 annually. The full pay range is $111,531 - $174,446 annually.
