Tarsus Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our dynamic accounting team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Accounting, this position will be responsible for supporting core accounting functions, including month-end and quarter-end close, managing key aspects of internal controls, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure the accurate and timely completion of accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator and analytical thinker with a solid understanding of US GAAP, and the ability to work effectively within a growing organization with public reporting requirements.

Let’s talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Support the timely and accurate completion of the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including reviewing journal entries, oversee accruals, and key deliverables for internal and external financial reporting. Ensure transactions are recorded timely and align with US GAAP and internal policies.
  • Maintain and refine internal controls to support SOX compliance. Collaborate with internal auditors to ensure controls meet required standards, facilitating documentation requirements such as participating in periodic walkthroughs.
  • Review and approve reconciliations for various accounts, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and other key general ledger balances.
  • Support efficient and accurate invoice processing and expense tracking through the approval process. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and proper accounting treatment/coding.
  • Assist in preparing PBCs for quarterly reviews and annual audits. Partner with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes and address audit inquiries.
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with FP&A, SEC Reporting, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Utilize NetSuite and FloQast to maintain efficient financial operations. Leverage these systems to improve financial reporting, close processes, and reconciliations.

Factors for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • At least 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry. Level may change dependent on years of experience.
  • Big 4 accounting experience is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience in SOX compliance, internal controls, and supporting audit processes.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite and FloQast is ideal, or knowledge of such systems. Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive and adaptable mindset in a fast-paced environment

The expected base pay range for this position is $93,700 - $131,300 plus bonus, stock equity, and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
