The Maintenance Work Planner is responsible for creating and coordinating work packages for preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and equipment modifications for Wabash Valley Power Alliance and its Member systems. This role supports inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of substation facilities, revenue metering equipment, and SCADA monitoring and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and assign work orders, tasks, and steps using IFS software.
Requisition materials, estimate time requirements, and assign specialized labor for work package completion.
Assist in outage scheduling and coordinate work package planning with Field Operations personnel.
Ensure newly installed equipment correctly replaces removed equipment in IFS and reconcile unused or removed items.
Perform final closeout of work orders and verify field-supplied information.
Recommend strategies to improve annual maintenance programs and completion within Field Operations.
Support Team Leads to ensure effective and timely work activities.
Generate invoices for services performed under Substation Services Agreements.
Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records in IFS.
Required Education and Experience:
Two- or four-year technical degree, or 2–4 years of experience developing and planning work packages or scheduling field orders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), basic troubleshooting, and familiarity with online collaboration tools.
Dependable, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions and prioritize tasks.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous electric utility substation experience is highly desirable.
Experience using IFS software.
Five or more years of field experience in transmission or substation operations and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional computer program application skills preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards.
Must be able to report to various worksites and operate company vehicles.
Must be available for emergencies and overtime as needed.
Ability to communicate clearly by phone and in person.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
