Location: Hull

Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday (core hours 8am-4.30pm to be worked flexibly when required)

Salary: £15-17 per hour, depending on experience

Bonus opportunity: Up to £2,400 per annum, measurement based on company and personal performance

Role Overview

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the Mobile Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting our clients across the Sewell Facilities Management portfolio. The role is primarily based in the East Yorkshire region, with travel to sites across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the Northeast when required. Working across health, education and commercial environments, you’ll respond to a wide range of client requests, delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and building fabric upkeep. You’ll also provide cover for Building Managers during periods of absence. Flexibility is essential, as the role involves adapting to client needs and participating in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership as the primary Mobile Maintenance Technician across a designated group of properties, building strong working relationships with on‑site teams
  • Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance tasks for all allocated sites
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance needs, completing repairs to building fabric and associated equipment
  • Act as a key holder for multiple properties, including attending emergency call‑outs as part of the on‑call rota
  • Manage and respond to all customer care requests allocated through internal systems
  • Plan work effectively and take a proactive approach to ensure all tasks are completed within agreed timescales
  • Work collaboratively to keep all properties safe, compliant, and operating smoothly, adapting flexibly to customer needs
  • Provide sickness and holiday cover for on‑site Building Managers when required
  • Liaise with and oversee external contractors to ensure work is delivered to the required standard
  • Provide clear information to support quotations and internal approvals for remedial works, while remaining vigilant in identifying, reporting, and addressing defects
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in full compliance with legal and organisational requirements
  • Identify and report near misses to support a strong safety culture

Essential:

  • Have a trade background or good practical core skills together with previous maintenance experience
  • Be computer literate (Microsoft Office and Mobile Applications)
  • Hold excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with Tenant Groups & subcontractors
  • Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks
  • Possess a positive approach to learning, development and progression
  • Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required)
  • Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practices
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS (criminal background) check
