Job Description: 

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. Acts as a subject matter expert on behalf of the plant in at least one of the following equipment areas: fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and/or stretch wrappers. Performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, other water filtration equipment, and general maintenance of the plant. The Maintenance Mechanic II works directly with Maintenance Mechanic I, Maintenance Mechanic III, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues. Through the use of preventative and predictive maintenance processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Rapid identification of machine problems to minimize equipment downtime with root cause analysis conducted to prevent re-occurrence
  • Partner with Lead Technician to resolve cross-functional problems
  • Use of available CMMS software systems to analyze and identify issues to drive throughput performance
  • Knowledge of all production equipment and operators
  • Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like-new status during planned downtime
  • Transfer knowledge to GTs team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in the following areas of bottling production
    • Filling/capping, beverage processing methods, cap feeding systems with light closures, vision inspections systems, and date coders, and conveying system
    • Labeling technology, roll-fed and/or cut and stack, machine set-up, hot melt gluing systems, and conveying systems
    • Dry-end packaging including case packers, case conveyors, conventional and robotic palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Machine set-up required for all pack size changes
  • Willingness to be a technical leader within a specific area of plant or machine center
  • Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools
  • Experience in high-speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, and packaging.
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drive (VFD), servo drives, and servo motor
  • Rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer.
  • Experience working with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting
  • Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (mig, tig or stick)
  • Skilled in working with electrical systems including 480VAC & 24VDC power
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams
  • Skilled in the repair of variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (asi-bus, can-bus, profit-bus, ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules

Job Details: 

  • Work Hours: Monday thru Friday, Graveyard, Overtime as needed.
  • Work Attire: Use good judgment, keeping in mind the nature of their work, their own safety and the safety of others, and their need to interact with the public.  
  • Pay Range: $34.80/hr - $38.80/hr
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
