Maintenance Engineering Co-op

Application Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025 (we will review applications on a rolling-basis) Duration: 8 months  Positions Available: 1 Start Date: May 5, 2025 For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Mechanical Engineering and an interest gaining hands-on experience working within an industrial environment.  If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed).   • Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to, and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures  
  • Opportunity to assist in project management and the  coordination of maintenance projects in a processing plant; responsible for organizing, scheduling, and monitoring the status of maintenance projects  
  • Monitor project budgets and identify inefficiencies and offer cost effective solutions  
  • Collaborate with the engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to produce detailed designs for mechanical projects on site, such as upgrades to process equipment or new equipment installations 
  • Coordinate the plan and schedule for maintenance and shutdown work  
  • Support operations and working with skilled trades to troubleshoot equipment failures and repair scopes of work 
  • Develop and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business  
  • Qualifications:
    ​​​​​​
    • Working towards an Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
    • A <b>valid Class 5 drivers license</b> or equivalent is required, access to a vehicle is strongly preferred
    • Comfortable following a <b>clean-shaven policy</b> and breathing through a full face respirator
    • Comfortable with confined spaces
    • Comfortable working in a multi- faceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical, trade, and operational personnel
    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a solid understanding of 2D/3D CAD software is an asset.
