Auburn Manufacturing, Inc. / Machine Operators / Mechanic Falls & Auburn, Maine      Voted: “Best places to work in Maine” in 2025 and “Best places to work in Manufacturing” in 2026     Auburn Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking Machine Operators for 1st and 2nd shifts, to be based at one of our two Plants.  The role of the operator is to ensure the safe and timely production of products by running and maintaining equipment that meets quality standards and to embody AMI’s Culture of Quality in their daily work.  Assumes responsibility for all operational phases of their respected machinery and equipment.   Requirements of the Machine Operator: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a manufacturing facility. 
  • Textile related machinery and experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform basic math functions.  
  • Basic computer & calculator proficiency to utilize company production and inventory programs.  
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • 1st shift: Monday – Thursday 6/6:30am – 3:30/4:00pm (depending on facility) 
  • 2nd shift: Monday – Thursday 3:30pm – 1am

  • Pay: $21 an hour, plus $1 differential for 2nd shift.

  • Responsibilities of the Machine Operator:
  • Review production schedules, follow work order instructions, and document completed work.  
  • Follow formulas and mixing procedures for chemical solutions used in the coating process.(depending on position hired for)  
  • Set up equipment and prepare cloth and materials for operation.  
  • Operate the coating tower according to company procedures to apply coatings accurately.(depending on position hired for)  
  • Package finished products, label with barcodes, and enter information into the inventory system.  
  • Inspect and clean equipment and work area regularly.  
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license if required.  
  • Perform in‑process and final inspections to ensure overall product quality.  
  • Follow all safety policies and report any accidents, hazards, or equipment issues.  
  • Incorporate company values into daily work and workplace interactions.
