What You Will Be Doing

The identifeye HEALTH Internship Program provides an opportunity for students and early career professionals to gain valuable industry experience, allowing them to develop technical skills, hone professional etiquette, learn from industry leaders, identify potential career paths and apply their academic knowledge.

Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to the exciting work happening within identifeye, build long lasting professional relationships with our team and most importantly - have fun!

As the Machine Learning / Computer Vision Intern, you will play a large role in the success and accuracy of our automated disease prediction models, to bring identifeye HEALTH’s product at scale and impact millions of patients. You will be developing novel machine learning and associated methods for achieving these goals.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: 

  • Develop and optimize state-of-the-art algorithms within one or all of the following areas: deep learning (convolutional neural networks), segmentation, and generative adversarial networks
  • Design, code and evaluate solutions for image quality assessment/enhancement on retinal scan datasets
  • Follow cutting-edge research in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, clinical AI, multimodal deep learning across various labs and conferences in particular as it applies to the field of ophthalmology, and identify opportunities for identifeye to innovate
  • Work alongside other research scientists, software engineers, and a clinical team to help develop a new suite of intelligent medical products
  • Develop novel methods and contribute to the existing knowledge pool through conference presentations and publications

The Internship Program will begin on Monday, June 5th, 2023 and will run for approximately 12 weeks. This role is based around a full-time schedule of 40 hours/week.

What We Are Looking For

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Currently pursuing MS or preferably PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
  • Experience in medical imaging, with a preference for ophthalmic imaging such as fundus images
  • Experience in using well-known CNN architectures like U-Net, ResNet, VGG16
  • Expertise in designing, building and optimizing machine learning solutions for classification and quality enhancement
  • Ability to quickly iterate on hypotheses and innovate / adapt and tune state of the art models to achieve set target requirements  
  • Deep theoretical understanding of state of the art machine learning literature and training processes
  • Involved with research communities, attending conferences / publishing results
  • Strong software development experience in Python, and comfortable with CS fundamentals such as OO design, data structures, algorithm design etc.
  • Proficiency with popular libraries and frameworks such as Scikit-learn, Pandas, Keras and TensorFlow 
  • Team and goal oriented while embracing shared values and being excited about our team’s mission to democratize healthcare

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud computing infrastructure and software (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) for ML applications
  • Relevant experience as a researcher, including internships, full-time, or at a lab
  • Active engagement with the research community with a track record for publications in top tier journals innovating and applying ML to large scale problems

 

Anticipated Salary Range: $46/hour to $63/hour. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, operational needs, potential employee qualifications and other considerations permitted by law.
