We are seeking an experienced Lustre Engineer to help design, stand up, and manage HRT’s own in-house built Lustre filesystem. The ideal candidate will have experience with both support and development work on Lustre, as well as experience standing up a CI/CD system to build Lustre packages. The ability to analyze Lustre core dumps, identify the root cause, and come up with a patch is a must – you will be our last layer of Lustre support. We are open to flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid or remote schedule for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

Design and deployment of a new Lustre filesystem
Upgrades and maintenance of the system once in operation
Troubleshooting of advanced or esoteric problems with the system
Improving monitoring and metrics collection for the Lustre system
In their spare time, they are encouraged to pick up open Jiras from upstream (Whamcloud, TheLustreCollective) that would be beneficial to our environment or work on upstreaming Lustre to the linux kernel

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience working with Python or C++
Experience working with Lustre
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent multitasking and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
Ability to look at a technical system, understand how it works, and identify how to make it better
Ability to explain complicated topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The estimated base salary range for this position is $200k-300k per year, based on job-related skills and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
