The Logistics Specialist supports an office environment by managing shipping and receiving of materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring items are delivered to the correct end user. This role is responsible for tracking supplies and equipment in an inventory database, managing storage locations, and performing routine inventory verification to ensure accuracy and accountability.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and distribute inbound deliveries; verify items against shipping documents and internal requests.
  • Route incoming packages to the correct end user/office promptly; resolve misroutes, missing items, or delivery discrepancies.
  • Package and ship outbound materials; coordinate pickups, maintain tracking numbers, and retain required shipping documentation.
  • Maintain an inventory database (receipts, issues, transfers, location changes, and adjustments) with high accuracy.
  • Manage stockroom/storage locations (shelves, bins, cabinets) and ensure items are labeled and organized for efficient retrieval.
  • Conduct cycle counts and periodic physical inventories; reconcile variances and document adjustments.
  • Coordinate with requestors, program staff, and administrative teams to support material needs and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain clear records and documentation in accordance with office procedures.
  • Identify process improvements to reduce errors, improve inventory accuracy, and streamline shipping/receiving workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with shipping/receiving, inventory control, logistics, or administrative supply tracking in an office setting.
  • Proficiency with inventory databases and standard office software (email, spreadsheets, document tracking).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a CI Poly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a government office or similarly regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning, asset tagging, or location/bin-based inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of shipping carriers and basic packaging/labeling standards.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Office-based with occasional stockroom work.
  • Ability to move boxes and supplies (commonly up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance).
