Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to join a specialist team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide expert dietetic care to children and young people with complex nutritional needs in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including those requiring home enteral feeding.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based dietetic interventions, developing accessible patient resources, and supporting the wider healthcare team through education and collaboration.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist paediatric dietetic advice for complex cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including home enteral feeding.
  • Develop and produce nutrition education materials (e.g. diet sheets, patient literature) tailored to clients with communication or cognitive barriers.
  • Respond to nutrition-related queries from healthcare professionals, patients, carers, and the public.
  • Organise, deliver, and evaluate nutrition education sessions for healthcare staff, patients, carers, and the wider community.
  • Maintain professional development in line with HCPC regulations.
  • Conduct audits and surveys to evaluate dietetic practice and contribute to service development and research.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with Trust and departmental standards.
  • Adhere to all relevant Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dietetic Manager and fellow Dietitians to ensure cohesive and effective paediatric dietetic service delivery.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a BSc or MSc in Dietetics.
  • Be HCPC registered as a Dietitian.
  • Have experience working in paediatric dietetics, ideally within an NHS setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be confident in developing patient resources and delivering education sessions.
  • Be proactive, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality care.
