Localization Growth Manager

AI overview

Develop scalable localisation systems for a global user base, enhancing app quality through automation and cultural expertise while supporting Photoroom's rapid growth ambitions.

About us

Photoroom launched in 2020 after being accepted into Y Combinator and has become the world's most popular AI photo editor over the past four years. Our goal is to create the technology allowing anyone create studio-level product images in minutes.

With over 300 million downloads and processing 5+ billion images annually, we serve both individual creators and major enterprises like Amazon, DoorDash, and Decathlon through our B2C app and B2B API solutions.

We're a profitable, remote-friendly company that has raised Series B funding and aims for 40% year-over-year growth. Our team of 100+ passionate builders focuses on craft, innovation, and collaboration, creating exceptional impact for entrepreneurs and businesses worldwide.

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Localisation Growth Manager to deliver a seamless experience for our users worldwide. Localisation at Photoroom isn't just translation; it's ensuring our app experience feels as close to a user's native experience as possible. This includes using the proper fonts to write in Japanese, and displaying Diwali templates in India, while Mid-Autumn Festival templates are shown in Taiwan. It is a strong growth lever we want to invest in.

This is a completely new role at Photoroom. We need someone who thinks in systems and can build scalable frameworks that work across our 28 existing languages and beyond (targeting 50+ languages). Rather than manually reviewing each language, you'll create automated systems and processes that ensure quality localisation at scale as we continuously iterate on our apps.

Compensation: 60-90K + Stock-Options/BSPCE (local currency)
Location: Remote across Europe with regular Paris office visits (fully reimbursed)

What You'll Do

  • Build scalable systems, not manual processes. Create frameworks and automated workflows that can handle 28+ languages today and scale to 50+ languages tomorrow. This means thinking like a product person, not a traditional project manager.

  • Serve as a cultural and linguistic expert within the Photoroom team, acting as the source of truth for all things international.

  • Own the end-to-end localisation roadmap: from introducing new languages to maintaining high-quality localised standards across all of our solutions (Mobile, Web, API), to making sure our content and tools fit local needs including on apps and website pages.

  • Partner closely with engineering to build systems where all our code flows through automated localisation processes. You'll work with our internal tools engineer to define technical requirements and create tooling that enables localisation at scale.

  • Leverage AI and automation as your primary tools. Design and implement systems that use AI for translation and localisation, moving away from traditional translator-based models towards scalable, tech-enabled solutions.

  • Build and refine localisation frameworks and processes, working closely with our Content Designer to reflect the same quality worldwide.

  • Create guidelines for language usage, cultural references, and localisation standards that can be systematically applied across all languages.

  • Regularly conduct user interviews (with the help of our international freelancers) to assess the overall local look and feel of our products.

  • Evaluate and implement localisation software, TMS platforms, or custom workflows to boost scalability.

What We're Looking For

  • You are a systems thinker first and foremost. You instinctively think "how can this scale?" rather than "how do I solve this once?" You approach problems by building frameworks, automation, and repeatable processes.

  • You have proven experience managing and scaling app localisation, translation, or international content projects across 5+ languages through systematic approaches. A good example is having introduced multiple new languages for a mobile app or a SaaS for a large user base using scalable frameworks. We will review the impact your work has had on both acquisition, conversion and retention in these new markets.

  • You leverage AI and automation tools extensively. You're comfortable building with tools like Lovable, Make, n8n, or Zapier, and you default to finding tech-enabled solutions rather than manual processes.

  • You have strong project management skills, you can juggle several projects at once whilst maintaining a systematic approach.

  • You are familiar with localisation tools and workflows (TMS, CAT tools, glossaries, style guides) and understand how to integrate them into automated systems.

  • You have a product-minded approach. You think about how features will be used, how to measure success, and how to iterate based on data. You're comfortable working in a fast-paced product environment where things are constantly changing.

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and can "code-switch" with designers, engineers, marketers, and freelancers alike. You can translate requirements between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • You have a deep interest in global languages and cultures. You instinctively think about the nuances between Mexican and Castilian Spanish, Canadian vs. European French, and the historical differences between Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

  • Experience with SEO and optimising content for search in multiple languages is an advantage.

  • Cultural connection to one or more of our tier-one markets (Japan, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, US, France) is a strong plus.

  • Knowledge of one or more languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, or French is a plus, though not required—your ability to build systems that scale is more important than speaking multiple languages yourself.

If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please still apply. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.
