LLM Optimization Lead

AI overview

Lead growth initiatives through Large Language Models and AI platforms to optimize brand visibility and drive customer acquisition across distributed online channels.

MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build anywhere—on the edge, on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 developers joining MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

This person can be based in one of our offices or remote US.

We are seeking an LLM Optimization Lead to drive growth via Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Google SGE) through distributed and external channels like Reddit, Medium, and StackOverflow. Reporting into the Digital Acquisition Marketing team, this role will be responsible for expanding our brand visibility and driving new customer acquisition by optimizing our presence in LLM/answer engine responses.

If you thrive at the intersection of content strategy, structured data, and AI-era SEO — and you want to join a team on the front lines, helping us define the next wave of content marketing and search experience optimization—this is a critical individual contributor role designed to accelerate target audience awareness, engagement, and acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own LLM growth initiatives for distributed channels. Develop and execute content initiatives focused on SEO and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Own audience engagement programs across distributed channels (Reddit, G2, StackOverflow, Wikipedia, etc.) by leveraging optimization strategies to build our visibility and authority in LLM platforms and AI Engines
  • Evangelize the SEO tactics we’ll need to expand our brand presence within high-citation, LLM-relevant communities. This includes creating guidelines and training cross-functional teams and SMEs to  write effectively for LLMs (e.g., token-friendly content)
  • Facilitate UGC response and advocacy. Coordinate a multi-team process to ensure timely, high-quality, and LLM-friendly answers are provided on Reddit, Stack Overflow, and similar UGC platforms. Develop and execute a community strategy, including “build in public” tactics and user-driven advocacy. Use strategic community engagement to increase our visibility and positive sentiment, directly impacting brand mentions in LLM responses
  • Develop and analyze LLM performance tracking. Collaborate with analytics and leverage LLM visibility tools to establish reporting on community engagement effectiveness, LLM citation impact across third-party sites, and LLM contributions to new customer acquisition. Help us measure what matters—specifically the influence of external content on LLM outputs and conversions

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in community management, SEO, digital strategy, or technical content marketing, preferably in a technical or developer-focused organization
  • Exceptional ability to lead, influence, and coordinate execution across teams (Developer Relations, Marketing, etc.) without formal direct reports
  • Proven ability to communicate SEO details clearly and effectively to an executive audience, bridging the gap between technical details and business outcomes
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling brand presence within large communities. Must understand the cultural nuances required for authentic, high-value engagement
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g. Jira) and SEO and AEO/LLM monitoring tools (Search Console, Profound, Conductor)
  • Deep understanding of how organic content influences technical decision-makers and accrues developer mindshare
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable strategies

Preferred

  • Ideal candidate has experience with Reddit Mod Tools and social listening tools like Sprinklr or CommonRoom
  • Experience creating content style guides, training internal teams, and editing for specific digital environments (technical writing experience, or experience managing technical writers, is a strong plus)
