Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Linux Administrator to support the engineering infrastructure of a major organization in the aerospace sector. The role focuses on Linux-based systems across multiple network layers, providing processing, storage, and memory resources essential for complex simulation activities. The position also involves application maintenance, incident and request management, and daily collaboration with internal teams, other suppliers, and a range of client stakeholders.

What you will do: 

  • Provide application support, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Provision High Performance Computing (HPC) resources, primarily for engineering and simulation workloads (e.g., Matlab).
  • Perform infrastructure administration across Red Hat Linux, Kickstart, and VMware systems.
  • Coordinate information management in partnership with data center and network support groups.
  • Conduct hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Manage, investigate, and resolve support tickets in alignment with SLA requirements.
  • Perform system updates, including applications, middleware, and databases.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Linux Administration (RHEL or similar).
  • Strong practical experience with Ansible.
  • Strong understanding and practical usage of network protocols.
  • Strong, applied experience using Git.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Red Hat IDM, VMware, and Podman.
  • Desirable skills include Jenkins, SAN concepts, Red Hat Satellite Server, infrastructure monitoring (CheckMK), third‑party software installation, legacy CENTOS, GitLab basics, and LDAP/Active Directory.
  • Must hold sole British citizenship and be eligible for SC clearance.
