Aspire Living & Learning is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to play a vital role in ensuring that nursing procedures for care and medication administration programs and medication documentation meet all regulatory and Aspire Living & Learning standards. The LPN will conduct initial and refresher Medication Certification training and annual trainings for nursing procedures as needed.

Location: Naugatuck, CT

Hours: M-F 7:30a-1:30p

Compensation: $40,000 – $47,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides health care treatment to injured or sick students and staff 
  • Serves as a member of the school team as the designated health professional (attends PPTs as needed) 
  • Maintains records according to Connecticut state requirements and internal procedures & policies (e.g., Therap)
  • Coordinates the administration of prescribed medications and treatments for students 
  • Trains designated staff in medication administration according to state regulations 
  • Develops individual health care plans for students as needed 
  • Per state regulations, performs vision, hearing and postural screenings 
  • Serves as a resource for school staff and students with regards to health care issues and disease prevention 
  • Document student visits to the nursing office and communicate follow-up needs to families and school team
  • Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity.
  • Conduct training as required and assigned.
  • Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation.

Qualifications:

  • Current, valid LPN license
  • Experience working with children in a special education setting preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing care and medication administration regulations; ability to identify training needs and develop and deliver appropriate training based on needs; ability to conduct medication and nursing audits; excellent training skills
  • Must have satisfactory background checks
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Must be able to perform all physical management techniques required for position
