Level Designer

High Voltage is seeking talented Level Designers to join our growing team. In this role, you will use your creativity, technical design skills, and strong sense of scale, pacing, and player flow to craft engaging and memorable game levels. You will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary partners to bring environments and gameplay experiences to life, from early blockouts to final polish. Here are some of the exciting responsibilities you'll have:

  • Design, build, and polish game levels from concept and blockout through final ship quality.
  • Implement gameplay elements such as encounters, puzzles, objectives, and scripted events using Blueprints and in-engine tools.
  • Collaborate with artists, engineers, and designers to integrate gameplay, art, and technical systems seamlessly.
  • Apply level design fundamentals (flow, pacing, composition, player guidance) and incorporate playtest feedback to iterate on quality.
  • Create basic custom blockout geometry and maintain clear level documentation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional level design experience in the game industry.
  • Strong understanding of core level design principles and end-to-end level production.
  • Minimum 2 years of Unreal Engine 5 experience, with proficiency with Unreal Engine Blueprints and common level systems (e.g., World Partition, Data Layers, OFPA).
  • Experience with advanced level techniques such as HLODs, RVT, or PCG.
  • Ability to debug gameplay/blueprint issues and work with limited supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Lumen, World Partition and basic networking/replication concepts.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Bonus points:

  • Unreal Engine experience with Nanite and Sequencer.
  • Secondary technical skills (animation, UI/widgets, advanced Blueprint systems).
  • Exposure to multiplayer projects or performance optimization workflows.
  • Portfolio with shipped or production-quality levels.

Salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 CAD
