Legal Counsel

Hybrid | Freelance or Payroll | Reporting to COO

At Optimile, we’re building the future of e-mobility. We are a leading software company specializing in digital solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry. Our innovative platforms empower Charging Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver a seamless and efficient EV charging experience. As we continue to grow internationally, we want our legal foundations to be just as strong as our technology.

That’s why we’re looking for a Legal Counsel who will build and own Optimile’s legal framework from the ground up and help us scale fast, while staying fully in control behind the scenes.

This is a unique role for an independent, hands-on legal professional who enjoys building structure in a fast-moving tech environment.

Your Role at Optimile

You will be our first in-house legal expert. You’ll work independently, with room to spar with the COO, collaborate closely with our contract manager and other stakeholders, and rely on external advisors when needed.

Architect of Our Legal Framework

• Build and manage our legal toolkit
• Draft, standardize, and maintain contract templates (SaaS agreements, NDAs, Terms & Conditions, supplier and partnership contracts, etc.)
• Review contracts with suppliers and third parties

Compliance & Risk Management

• Monitor Belgian and European regulations relevant to e-mobility, tech, and payments (e.g., PSD2, AFIR)
• Translate legal changes into practical, actionable advice for internal stakeholders
• Ensure GDPR compliance and manage our privacy policy
• Protect and manage our intellectual property

First Point of Contact for Legal Matters

• Handle complaints, notices of default, and claims with a solution-oriented mindset
• Minimize legal risks and protect Optimile’s interests
• Provide clear, business-friendly legal guidance

Knowledge Sharing & Structure

• Develop internal trainings, templates, and practical tools to strengthen the teams’ legal knowledge
• Organize webinars when relevant (e.g., for whitelabel customers)
• Represent Optimile in industry working groups and contribute to regulatory discussions as Optimile grows

Who We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in Law
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in tech/SaaS or a commercial environment
• Independent “builder” who enjoys creating structure in a growing organization
• Strong attention to detail and focus on consistency
• Practical communicator who speaks the language of the business
• Interest in sustainable mobility and technology
• Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus)
• Familiar with Belgian (and European) legislation
• Positive team player with a solution-oriented mindset
