The Legal Counsel, Employment will provide strategic legal guidance and support across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA and APAC, ensuring compliance with evolving employment laws and regulations. You will partner closely with HR, business leaders, and global legal teams to deliver practical solutions that manage risk, support organizational growth, and enhance the employee experience. This role involves cross-border coordination, policy development, dispute resolution, and proactive advice on workforce management. You will play a key part in shaping employment practices, mitigating legal exposure, and fostering trust-based relationships with employees and stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines deep legal expertise with strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Accountabilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on employment law matters across EMEA and APAC, covering recruitment, terminations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance management.
  • Support HR and business leaders in policy development, workplace investigations, redundancies, and employee relations, ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
  • Monitor, analyze, and apply new employment laws and trends, including workplace equality, pay transparency, remote work, leave entitlements, antidiscrimination, and health and safety regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, offer letters, settlement agreements, consultancy contracts, and secondments.
  • Advise on employee transfers, workforce restructuring, and employment aspects of corporate transactions.
  • Guide works council engagement, collective bargaining, and union-related matters, ensuring trust-based collaboration with staff representatives.
  • Collaborate with privacy counsel on workplace privacy and personal data matters.
  • Deliver training and guidance to HR, management, and business leaders on employment law topics and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of legal advice, projects, and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Law degree and admission to practice in a European or APAC jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of experience in employment law, ideally in multinational corporate environments or reputable law firms.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU employment law, including works council processes, labor relations, and collective bargaining; APAC experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage complex employment matters and cross-border projects.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English; additional European or APAC languages are advantageous.
