Why this role matters

Right now, legal at Lucidya is everywhere, and nowhere at the same time.

Contracts are being handled across teams, with final oversight sitting with the Chief of Staff. It’s worked so far, but it’s not scalable. As we grow, every contract we sign carries more weight -  commercially, operationally, and reputationally.

This role is about bringing clarity, structure, and speed to legal, without slowing the business down.

You’ll be our first dedicated legal hire, which means you won’t just execute legal work, you’ll shape how legal operates at Lucidya. You’ll be the person teams rely on to move fast and stay protected.

If done well, your impact will be felt across every deal we close and every partnership we enter.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll take ownership of all things contracts - reviewing, negotiating, and making sure we’re protected while still enabling the business to move forward
  • You’ll build how legal works here from the ground up - from contract lifecycle management to templates, playbooks, and internal processes
  • You’ll partner closely with Sales, Finance, Customer Success, and others - helping them move quickly without exposing the business to unnecessary risk
  • You’ll spot risks early, explain them clearly, and suggest practical ways forward (not just “no”)
  • You’ll make sure legal doesn’t become a bottleneck - contracts should move in days, not weeks
  • You’ll work with external counsel when needed, but own the day-to-day legal execution internally
  • You’ll gradually take legal off the Chief of Staff’s plate - giving leadership confidence that this function is fully under control

Who You Are

  • You’re a commercially-minded lawyer - you don’t just think about what’s legally correct, but what makes sense for the business
  • You’ve worked in an in-house or commercial environment before and understand the pace and ambiguity that comes with it
  • You’re extremely detail-oriented - you naturally catch things others miss, especially in contracts
  • You move with urgency - you don’t believe a contract review should take a week unless there’s a very good reason
  • You’re a strong communicator - you can take complex legal language and explain it in a way that a non-legal stakeholder can act on
  • You don’t hide behind legal jargon - you take ownership and give clear recommendations
  • You’re comfortable building from scratch - there’s no existing system here, and that excites you rather than intimidates you
  • You’re confident working with strong stakeholders and know how to push back when needed

Requirements

What You Bring

  • LLB qualification
  • 2+ years of experience in a commercial/in-house legal role
  • Strong experience reviewing and negotiating contracts
  • Exposure to SaaS, tech, or fast-paced environments is a strong plus
  • Understanding of corporate law and (ideally) data protection
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders
