We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support our Personal Injury Paralegals in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role is critical to keeping cases moving efficiently by managing follow-ups, documentation, and administrative case tasks so paralegals can focus on case strategy, client communication, and building case value.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Assistant will assist paralegals across various case stages, including pre-litigation, negotiation, and disbursal.



 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Support Personal Injury Paralegals in a high-volume caseload environment
  • Follow up with insurance adjusters regarding acknowledgments, liability decisions, limits, and claim status
  • Assist with opening claims, coverage verification, and overflow coverage when team members are out
  • Track and follow up on medical liens, subrogation, health insurance, and workers’ compensation matters
  • Send Letters of Representation (LORs) and assist with MedPay demands and follow-up
  • Request and monitor medical, employment, and court-related records and documentation
  • Add medical bills and payments to case ledgers and assist with balance checks (as delegated)
  • Respond to basic provider and adjuster inquiries at paralegal discretion
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reminders, and follow-ups in the case management system
  • Provide general administrative and case support to keep files moving efficiently
  • Must be able to work M-F fulltime from downtown Durham, N.C.



Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Administrative Assistant in a personal injury or high-volume legal setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working with case management systems and medical/legal documentation
  • Ability to follow detailed processes while exercising sound judgment
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support coverage needs
