We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work within a mainstream school, supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural support to engage positively with learning.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and committed to helping pupils develop self-regulation, confidence and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour within the classroom environment
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Support pupils to remain engaged in learning and access the curriculum
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a school or similar setting
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of behaviour as communication
  • Ability to follow behaviour support plans and school policies

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with SEMH, ADHD or ASD
  • Training in de-escalation or behaviour management
  • Previous experience in a mainstream school setting
