In this role, you will be working with a diverse team (education, research and investment) to support selected EdTech Startups from Nigeria and Kenya to effectively adopt learning science theories and sound pedagogical practices in the design of products to improve learning experiences and outcomes for their learners.

  • Collaborate with startups to enhance the integration of effective pedagogies and learning science theories into their product learning experiences. This will include, but not be limited to, consultation on content/course design; development of assignments, exercises, and simulations; and guidance on integrating student feedback.

  • Analyse pedagogical strengths and identify areas for improvement; develop and implement a comprehensive action plan to enhance pedagogy. Emphasise diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all pedagogical practices.

  • Conduct instructional research and contextual analysis to understand target learners and their learning environments.

  • Partner with selected startups and the research team to develop frameworks for learner performance and assessment.

  • Review and provide constructive feedback on curriculum design and content delivery.

  • Develop standards and templates rooted in the African context, to guide startups in adopting learning science and pedagogy aimed at delivering optimal learning outcomes.

  • A strong understanding of learning science and pedagogical approaches

  • A Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the education or EdTech sector

  • In-depth knowledge of learning science theories and instructional design models

  • The ability to design and apply pedagogical strategies to improve learning outcomes

  • Demonstrated expertise in research on pedagogy and curriculum practices

  • Experience working with diverse learner groups across various levels—K–12, tertiary, and/or corporate learning

  • The ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and school administrators

  • A collaborative leadership style, with a proven ability to work across stakeholder groups, promote teamwork, and lead multiple complex projects effectively
