Lead the Way at Gladesville Veterinary Hospital – Lead Veterinarian Opportunity

Are you a passionate and dedicated veterinarian ready to step into a leadership role where you can influence clinical standards, mentor a talented team, and deliver exceptional patient care?
Gladesville Veterinary Hospital (GVH) — one of Sydney’s most respected veterinary practices — is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join our thriving and collaborative team.

Why Gladesville?

Located in the leafy Lower North Shore and established in 1959, GVH has grown into a purpose-built, highly reputable hospital known for its advanced facilities and strong commitment to excellence. We proudly offer a high standard of medical, surgical and specialty nuclear scintigraphy services.

We are a fast-paced clinic with a loyal, engaged client base — ideal for a vet who enjoys variety, complexity and continuous learning. You will collaborate closely with the existing senior veterinarian and leadership team to drive hospital standards and contribute to ongoing service growth.

A clinical interest (or willingness to develop skills) in nuclear scintigraphy, orthopaedic surgery or diagnostic imaging would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Our Team & Services

We are a large, supportive and diverse team of 40 professionals, including 10 veterinarians with special interests across:

  • Dermatology

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Soft tissue surgery

  • Dentistry

We deliver services beyond the typical GP clinic, including:

  • Complex dental procedures

  • Nuclear medicine treatments (training available)

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Extensive imaging (ultrasound, X-ray, dental X-ray)

  • Wildlife care and hospitalisation

  • Boarding services

  • Puppy Preschool

Our modern facilities include:

  • Six consult rooms and two surgical suites

  • In-house Idexx pathology

  • Nuclear medicine suite with gamma camera

  • New ultrasound and comprehensive diagnostic imaging tools

  • EzyVet, Smartflow, Cubex and RocketPacs

Your Role as Lead Veterinarian

You will be a clinical leader, mentor and strategic contributor, responsible for:

  • Managing a diverse caseload in both medicine and surgery

  • Mentoring, training and supporting our GP veterinary team

  • Line management responsibilities including performance and development

  • Supporting the training of nursing and support teams

  • Shaping best-practice standards in line with VetPartners advisory guidelines

  • Driving clinical vision and aligning priorities with business needs

What We Offer

  • A state-of-the-art GP hospital in a prime Sydney location

  • A supportive leadership team including a senior vet, Practice Manager and two Head Nurses

  • Access to VetPartners regional and national support networks

  • Leadership development — including access to our Drive course and ongoing mentorship

  • Competitive salary package (base + super), internal and external CPD, and corporate perks

  • Opportunities to collaborate with specialist hospitals within the wider VetPartners network

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in small animal practice

  • BVSc, DVM or equivalent, and registration (or eligibility) to practice in NSW

  • Strong multitasking and case prioritisation skills

  • Willing to develop new clinical skills (e.g., nuclear medicine)

  • Comfortable supervising, teaching and supporting junior veterinarians

  • Prior experience (formal or informal) in leadership, change management or process improvements

  • A desire to grow your leadership capability — including people leadership, business acumen and coaching
