Foth is hiring a Lead Sediment Remediation Engineer to drive innovative cleanup projects and mentor the next generation of engineers. As part of a culture-first organization, you'll collaborate with a dynamic team dedicated to excellence, sustainability, and continuous improvement.  Our ideal candidate will be based out of the Portland, OR area, work remotely from their home, or from a Midwest Foth office. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and scientists
  • Lead planning and execution of Predesign investigation (PDI), Basis of Design Report (BODR), 30/60/90/final remedial design phases
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for sediment remediation projects
  • Design bank stability and erosion protection solutions
  • Develop sediment capping and dredge prism design for complex sites
  • Prepare and provide senior review of technical deliverables — calculations, specs, drawings, and analyses
  • Develop and oversee field sampling plans and execution
  • Provide construction oversight as EOR
  • Develop scopes and cost estimates for remedial alternatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Stay current on sediment management regulations
  • Contribute to business development and lead proposal efforts

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 12 - 15+ years in contaminated sediment projects
  • Experience with full lifecycle sediment cleanups
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 15+ years in contaminated sediment remediation
  • 10+ years with an engineering consulting firm
  • Experience building client and regulator relationships
  • Experience with leading stakeholder engagement and navigating public project perception
  • Experience with Civil 3D CAD for sediment capping, dredging, and geotechnical design
  • Experience managing detailed engineering plans/specs for capping, dredging, and dredged material handling
  • Experience with use of hydrodynamic and cap flux models
