Lead QA Automation Engineer (SDET) - Brazil

AI overview

Lead the development and scaling of a test automation framework for a complex SaaS platform used by global financial institutions and military organizations, ensuring reliability and security.

This is a remote role based in São Paulo, Brazil

Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Lead QA Automation Engineer (SDET) to architect, build, and scale our test automation framework for a complex, enterprise-grade SaaS platform. Our customers include global financial institutions, professional services firms, and military organizations — so reliability, scalability, and security are paramount.

This role is not just about writing tests. It’s about building the foundation of quality engineering: designing automation systems that evolve with the product, scale to enterprise workloads, and provide confidence for mission-critical deployments. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of creating automation frameworks from scratch, scaling them in fast-growing SaaS environments, and mentoring teams to raise the overall quality bar.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own the test automation framework and infrastructure to support web, API, and integration testing at scale.

• Partner with Product, Engineering, and DevOps to ensure testability and quality are baked into requirements, design, and release processes.

• Define automation strategy, roadmap, and best practices for the entire organization.

• Build and maintain robust regression and smoke test suites that can run reliably across CI/CD pipelines.

• Design reporting and analytics dashboards to provide real-time visibility into quality metrics.

• Proactively identify gaps in coverage, performance, and resilience; ensure automation scales as the platform grows in complexity.

• Mentor and guide QA engineers and SDETs, elevating automation practices across the team.

Skills & Qualifications

• Expertise in automation frameworks and architecture (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent).

• Senior-level Java skills (or equivalent language proficiency) — ability to design automation frameworks, not just test scripts.

• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and quality gates in release management.

• Deep understanding of enterprise SaaS application architectures (multi-tenant, API-driven, cloud-based) and their testability challenges.

• Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch and scale them with product growth.

• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).

• Excellent collaboration skills; proven success working across Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.

• Experience testing in regulated, security-sensitive, or mission-critical environments is a strong plus.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• 10+ years of QA Automation / SDET experience, with at least 5 years building and scaling automation frameworks in enterprise SaaS.

• Track record of leading quality initiatives for complex, large-scale solutions used by demanding enterprise customers.
